2024/25 Teams

 Coach Young will be entering his 21st year coaching and ninth season as the girl’s head basketball coach at Horizon High School. In his first eight seasons he has led the Huskies to a 136-86 record and received the honors of 2024/25 and 2019/20 District Coach of the year, and 2018/19 Region and District Coach of the Year. Prior to Horizon, Coach Young led the Saguaro Sabercats to a 123-65 record and the school’s first ever girl’s basketball state championship. He received the honors of 2012/13 AZ Republic Big Schools Coach of the Year, ABCA Division II Coach of the Year, 2011/12 Division II Section III Coach of the Year and All Northeast Valley Coach of the Year. Coach Young graduated from Kent St. University in Kent, OH and received his Master’s in Education from the University of Phoenix.  

 Coach Amber graduated from Scottsdale Saguaro High School playing 4 years under Coach Young and being part of the 2012/13 State Championship team as a Freshman. After high school, Amber continued her playing career at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, AZ, where she took part in the inaugural women's basketball team. In her 4 years she helped the team to an 82-28 record and her final two seasons helped lead the team to the CalPac Championship. She was a two time Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete and named Champion of Character her Senior year. Amber graduated with a degree in Aviation Business Administration and Supply Chain Management.  

Coach Marc

Coach Macy is entering her 1st season as JV Coach for Horizon.  Macy is a dedicated and accomplished individual with a strong background in both sports and education.  She played Varsity basketball all 4 years of high school and later assisted the varsity basketball team at Saguaro High School.  Macy earned her undergraduate degree in English in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and received a masters degree from the University of Kansas.  She is currently shaping young minds and fulfilling her passion for education and commitment to student success at Saguaro High School.

Coach Jaymes will be entering his 1st season as the Horizon Frosh/Soph Head Coach.  Jaymes is originally from Long Beach, CA, but now lives in Scottsdale by way of NAU.  He has been around basketball his entire life and his love for the game has helped him extend into the world of coaching.  Coach Jaymes has been coaching for five years total, has enjoyed every second of it, and is excited to start a new chapter at Horizon.
